” In the beginning was Daedalus, the brilliant inventor of escape, of flight in the air, taking with him his son Icarus, both harnessed with wings, two prostheses glued to wax. They rise, intoxicated by flight, carried in the atmosphere. We know the rest. Icarus getting too close to the sun sees his wings melt and die, precipitated into the sea” (..) from the catalogue Aline Vidal
If he declares in Paris Match that he is bored by the art world, Antoine de Galbert titles his reverence while his Foundation is at the top, the place attracting 100,000 visitors per year and has managed to impose a unique model based on freedom of vision and tone.

Since 14 years a faithful public has found itself in these life courses and choices of singular collectors, whether Marin Karmitz, David Walsh, Bruno Decharme, Arthur Walther, for distant scenes: My Winnipeg, My Joburg, My Buenos Aires designed by his daughter and the artists..: Hélène Delprat, Louis Soutter, Chiharu Shiota, Berlinde de Bruyckere, until recently the artist back from the death camps, Ceija Stojka.

“L’Envol” is the last gift he gives us around this inaccessible dream, this chimera so many times surrounded by artists.
In total 200 works by 130 artists from all horizons including and especially raw art defy weightlessness and tutoient the stars. The viaticum for this new journey is to drop categories and usual chronologies to let vibrate in oneself this flame, this emotion that Antoine de Galbert tirelessly tracks down.
A claimed decompartmentalization which takes the form here again of a moving scenography and all in sound and visual echoes.
The sky becomes this zone of turbulence, this territory of utopia and surpassing oneself. Cult of the body of the hero in the service of the revolution (Rodchenko), grace of the dancer to a possible exhaustion (Rauchenberg), challenge to the forces of nature and matter including to death (Agnès Geoffray), call to the fantasies of childhood (Roman Signer, Stéphane Thidet), dialogue with shamans and spirits (Kiki Smith, Henry Darger), convocation of the occult and psychotropics, until the fall assumed in the 2nd darker part of the course in the basements with notably the Witch of Pierre Joseh.
If it takes a grain of madness to imagine such challenges, Antoine de Galbert certainly needed some to embark on such an adventure,
thank you for making this dream possible !
and see you soon for the new adventures that await you…
