On the occasion of the launch of the season“Japonismes 2018: les âmes en résonance”, the Louvre Museum unveiled under the pyramid, the fascinating gold leaf throne of the artist Kohei Nawa which rises 10 meters high. For a total budget of over one million euros, in which the Japan Foundation, a co-partner of the event, is also participating. A symbol in the symbol for this artist as passionate about artificial intelligence as he is about Shinto rituals. Between past and future, modernity and tradition, 3D modelling and ancestral know-how, this work is a concentrate of what this new season has to offer us;
The year 2018 marks the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and France, as well as the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Meiji era.
A century and a half later, this great cultural season has strengthened the bonds of friendship between the two peoples and highlighted their common sensitivity: a deep interest in harmonious aesthetics and a taste for the art of living.

Exhibitions, theatre, concerts, cinema, gastronomy, art of living, dance but also sport: more than fifty events invest the biggest cultural institutions in Paris and in the region: the Centre Pompidou, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Chaillot Théâtre national de la Danse, the Grande halle de la Villette, the Maison de la culture du Japon in Paris, the Théâtre national de la Colline;the Cinémathèque française, the Théâtre de la ville etc….

The name Japanism refers to the craze of the French and European artists of the 19th century for the Japanese culture incarnated by Hokusaï, under the influence of the collector Samuel Bing and the Goncourt brothers, true couriers. This movement touches all arts and will generate a real aesthetic and stylistic revolution.
