I always have a lot of pleasure to discover each new edition of this singular and warm show. Its director, Eve de Medeiros, has succeeded in creating an extraordinary exhibition, far from the alignment of the traditional stands of most fairs.

DDessin welcomes for its sixth edition about twenty French and foreign galleries in a space, the Richelieu workshop, in itself amazing with its two floors and its skylights. The wandering from room to room, without physical separation between galleries, makes it easy to exchange with gallery owners and artists.

Beyond the artists presented by the participating galleries, Eve de Medeiros wanted the show to be a place of meetings, discoveries and experiments. DDessin was the first to welcome comic book authors. Solo shows” feature artists Harnold Guérin, Kokou Ferdinand Makouvia and Brigitte Lurton. The corner”Illustrators” is invested by Agathe Roman, Pierre de Bonneuil, David Scrima, and, for the second consecutive year, Popy Loly de Monteysson who is deploying this year a travel notebook on a wall of 3.50 meters.

The show also hosts specific projects such as design and the smartphone. Finally, the artist incubator is a new initiative of Eve de Medeiros. This space aims to present the work of very young artists and thus highlight a scene of avant-garde drawing. Performances, including one proposed by Lydie Toran, complete the rich palette of proposals.

Each year, DDessin presents its favorite. It is the artist Annina de Roescheisen who is the favorite of Eve de Medeiros for this edition. She’s also my favorite.

Finally, DDessin and the Institut Français de Saint-Louis of Senegal will nominate a winner from among the artists presented by the galleries. The winner, who will be announced during the vernissage evening, will see his work rewarded by three weeks of artist residencies at the institute.
