Drawing, the key to our symbolic dictionaries

Drawing, a medium that is increasingly popular with collectors, is laying its boxes this week in Paris and is spreading all over the capital. We will follow him from the Carreau du Temple to 104, from the Institut de France to Palais Brogniart, passing by the small but dynamic “le 6B dessine son salon”, the latest initiative.

The Mowwgli team has mobilized to show you the creativity and passion of collectors and patrons for this art, which was still so discreet a few years ago. Thus, we will propose you to meet the precious Guerlain couple who have been the instigators of the Drawing Prize and who have been revealing the talents of tomorrow for eleven years; Louis de Bayser, president of the Salon du Dessin or Philippe Piguet, artistic director of Drawing Now

We will also come back to the controversy that seized the web last weekend. This controversy led to the withdrawal on Thursday of the piece by the artist Abdel Abdessemed currently presented in a shock exhibition at the Mac in Lyon. From the opening, a video caused the emotion of Internet users and visitors. The stakes of the metaphor: the horror of terrorism, of war, of Palmyra’s horror at the Bataclan, Le Figaro published last week an open letter from the artist before he decided, as a sign of appeasement, to withdraw the decried work. Marie de la Fresnaye met with the director of the Thierry Raspail Museum, who provides an enlightened contextualization of the artist’s approach.

Finally, we entrust the reindeer of the week to our guest, Elisabeth Bret-SayerDirector of the collection and the “One Photographer for Eurazeo” award. A photographer involved in the fight against cancer with the healthcare teams and patients at the Gustave Roussy Institute, she gives us these white cards.

Have a good week, everyone.
