#FIAC Project, a well named off!

It was necessary to get out of the turmoil and heat of the Grand Palais and cross the optical colored bands of the joyful duo Lang & Baumann to come and enjoy a sharp selection from her neighbour’s house at Small Palace. Thought of as an extension of the FIAC, FIAC Project gathered a selection of works, some of them monumental, both outside and inside this setting 1900. A choice orchestrated by Marc-Olivier Wahler and which allowed a more focused look at contemporary art and the proposals of the participating galleries. For if the place was already suitable for appreciating the beautiful things, the high vaults and the permanent exhibition of the collections of the Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris welcomed with brio these pieces of art with often committed connotations.

From the outset, we let ourselves be caught up in this Ellipse of the king of the anamorphosis Felice Varini. Next to it were strange sculptures, made in 3D printing, by Philippe Mayaux, real formal realizations of his funny drawings. Abstract icons that contrasted with those of the hyper-realistic sculptor John De Andrea. Her naked women, allegories of the modern woman, are surprisingly realistic and seem to live under their polyester and fibreglass composition. Current materials and technologies are invited in contemporary creation. The hypnotic proposal of Luke Murphy and the different Penelope of Francisco Tropa mix genres and emotions. The theme of the body held an important place in this aerated journey. Object of suffering and fragmented in Thu Van Tran appointed for the Marcel Duchamp Prize 2018-a bulwark against the torments of the world in the installation of Cécile Bart. In both wings of the Small Palace stood up a Zigurat of Wolfgang Laib and a wall of Ugo Rondinone. High monuments to bring people together or separate them? Outside the bench of lovers of Johan Creten in the garden was facing the arch of Pablo Reinoso under which bystanders and lovers sat to pose. In this journey, which deserved to be studied, far from the sometimes noisy atmosphere of the Grand Palaisthat the rabbit of Larry Flanaganthe visitor went from an absurd reality to a poetic universe. But “Until now, everything’s fine here” assured us of the drone of Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil
