Successful gamble for ParisPhoto 2018
A beautiful edition for this essential meeting of photography under the glass roof of the Grand Palais.
While the curtain has just fallen on the 2018 edition of Paris Photo, let’s come back to this excellent quality vintage in which iconic photography was mixed, in a wonderful balancing act, with its greatest representatives such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Lartigue, Brassaï, the great self-portraitists Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, Michel Journiac in the lead, fashion photographers from Richard Avedon to Erik Madigan Heck (Christophe Guye gallery), photo reportage with in particular the subject on Russia by Dmitry Markov or even some images that document performances such as those of Prune Nourry or Philippe Grollier and finally plastic photography.
An edition where all the techniques are also combined; cyanotypes, prints on glass or aluminium plate, collages, and even weavings with a mixed photography of embroidery, painting, drawing, or photographs staged in sculptures or installations. The eccentricity was perhaps not as present as in previous editions, no revolutionary discoveries, but a very well balanced mix and a great coherence for this 2018 edition.
