#MIAMI Until next May, and the first roses bloom, Jamaican artist Ebony G. Patterson literally invades the rooms of the Perez Art Museum, with a luxuriant vegetation. “Ebony G.Patterson…While the dew is still on the roses…” is a proposal that brings together the major pieces produced by the artist over the past five years, in an installation simulating a night garden.

Praised by the Jet-Set, in particular the designer Christian Louboutin and the American producer Kasseem Swizz Beatz, for her drawings or tapestries made of flowers, sequins and pearls, the young woman shows the forms of embellishment among young people in communities deprived of rights. She explores violence, masculinity, bling, visibility and invisibility both in her native Jamaica and in Black youth culture in general.

In this plant installation, the aesthetic lung of her media mix practice, the artist questions the relationship between post-colonial spaces through the prism of the garden, real or imaginary, natural or cultivated, as a metaphor for social demarcations.
