“Salvador Dalí: In search of immortality”
Documentary by David Pujol. Released in France on January 23, 2019. 30 years after his death, Salvador Dalí is celebrated in this documentary that offers a journey through his life and work, as well as that of Gala, his muse and collaborator. He started in 1929, when he joined the surrealist group and met Gala, and continued until his death on January 23, 1989. We discover his attachment to his places of life that he makes evolve according to his imagination: Portlligat in particular, Figueras, his native city, where he creates his house which will become the Dalí Museum of today, and Púbol where the castle is located, symbol of his love for Gala. Many archives allow us to explore the world of this painter, unique in the history of art.
By contemplating Salvador Dalí, his creations, his family relationships, Gala, through images and documents that are sometimes unpublished, we approach an artist who has succeeded in creating a character that is a work of art in itself. With this documentary, we can go beyond fame and get closer to the painter and the man, as well as the spaces he himself designed that helped to shape his immortality, the immortality of a genius.
