#TOULON To let oneself be embroiled in a digital imagination freed from the constraint of gravity: this is the promise made by the theatre Liberty within the framework of its digital festival. Newly called Le Liberté Parallèle- Biennale des imaginaires numériques, the national scene in Toulon is once again exploring the possibilities offered by our technological, computer and digital world applied to the human experience. From January 30 to February 3, 2019, shows, exhibitions, round table discussions and documentaries explore the theme of levitation. A real invitation to a sensitive experience, to feel the natural forces made possible by the digital age.

In weightlessness

For this edition, Le Liberté has joined the CHRONIQUES platform. As a platform to support the production and distribution of original works, CHRONIQUES brings together several places that encourage plural creation around contemporary aesthetics and its inseparable digital component. Because it is an essential fact, which has invaded our daily lives and opens up many possibilities in creation, following the example of the performance of the P.A.S. Company, which recently showed in the Freedom Hall a show where the body is subjected to a flow of computer data. For this invitation in weightlessness, Le Liberté invites us to step into the shoes of astronaut Thomas Pesquet through a virtual reality documentary shot in space; to learn about the experience of a fighter pilot who loses control of his plane; to embark on the vertigo of weightlessness with a virtual reality dance/trampoline experience. Such delicate subjects -Guillaume Cousin takes us on board to feel the emptiness that surrounds us – as well as dramatic – Alain Josseau’s installation represents the disaster of war, fuelled by automatic controls and devoid of humanity. In the hall, various installations question the place of these digital technologies in our daily lives, in our intelligible and sensitive free will, to the point of making our bodies dance to the sound of DJ ONYVAA or stimulating our cells in the dancing performance of S20- Hiroaki Umeda.

Digital art experiences

After 5 days of both virtual and real body experiences, the Metaxu invites you to a musical nap questioning the relationships between sounds and images. You will not emerge unscathed from such experiences. To wrap oneself in weightlessness is to probe the undefinable space around us, to feel the natural laws that shape our environment, but – above all – to rediscover the poetry of a cosmos that creates everything.
