#MONACO Life hangs by a thread, at this suspended time that the Italian artist Nina Carini surprises at its source, in the hesitation of matter or the perception of emptiness. This is the common thread that is inserted into the edges of the erasure.

Nina Carini writes it on the cotton paper she pierces to make it flow with extreme precision as if to recount a precious moment of meditation. Here is a work captured in contemplation and which is only slowly revealed when it engages the viewer in the same journey towards the source of all language. Thought and perception then merge at the borders of an enunciation of which we will only grasp the framework.

Nina Carini draws with this thread that incises the back of the sheet for sketches of primitive shapes, memories of geometric shapes or stars. Whispered drawings of a nascent universe, reduced to its only organic force. The artist weaves this moment of creation when the random imposes its sign without possible recourse and this sign is measured in reality to translate what is before appearing. We guess here what would be the premises of a musical score, or there what would be a cosmic ideal – a rhythmic perfection made of almost nothing, a luminous incidence, a powder of black in a perfect circle, angles that are discovered.

But still it is necessary to be able to really see them, as at the moment when the sea withdraws, leaving behind it shapes that can be guessed but never tamed.
This fragility is stated with rigor, in all its certainty. The resulting humble and sumptuous forms result from this perfect balance between pure aesthetics and contempt for adulterated beauty that is reticent in meaning, in this sense as the only horizon.
Because the work is similar to a minimal calligraphy. Draft drawings but also this installation “I love you” on a hundred sheets with words that, from one sheet to another, overlap until they are completely erased. Translucent staging as in this light net of ropes studded with fragments of dots and lines where the temptation of a figure is sketched 0504. Or this video where twirling lights are the convolutions of a dance. Everything is only balance and lightness, obviousness and simplicity but nevertheless what a mystery when we fail to understand the arrangement of these signs. Rather than an unveiling, the artist enjoins us to give in to the serenity of vertigo.
