The attractive program of the “evening visitors” in Nice
#NICE If there is a tradition scrupulously respected in contemporary art on the Riviera, it is the traditional “evening visitors” itinerary that the Botox (s) network proposes every year! The weekend of May 24 and 25 in Nice and May 26 in other parts of the Alpes-Maritimes will be devoted to the multiple facets of contemporary art and will allow visitors to discover in some twenty places a rich creation, sometimes serious, humorous, committed, poetic, zany or simply surprising. But the public will always succeed, even often beyond its reticence, in finding works that speak to it and that will amaze it. The Botox (s) network is first of all a group of places, institutions, galleries, museums or art schools which, mainly around Nice, join forces to promote a creation often wrongly judged as elitist or difficult when, most often, it is addressed to everyone. The atmosphere will be friendly, festive, with sometimes music, unexpected encounters, performances, video, paintings and simply unexpected events.
The opening evening of Friday, May 24th will take place in Nice at Castel Plage at 10pm and will be the occasion for a “amuse gueule” where a sound pin will be placed on the visitors in order to generate a particular space where sound and movement will be articulated in an original way. There will also be Soul Rhythm’n blues 60’s with The Zemblas and Afroman radio for an electrified dancefloor!
The common point of all the events of these days will be the diversity of proposals. In Nice we will discover places that are not usually directly related to art, such as Bel œil (Rue Daniel Philibert) or Joya Lifestore, Place du Pin. Vin de Terre, Avenue Villermont, will exhibit Martin Caminiti and Gilles Miquelis. Vigna Bookstore, rue Delille, will present “This charming Man” Outside the galleries more accustomed to today’s art such as those of Depardieu, Eva Vautier or l’Espace à Vendre, we will visit places steeped in a more personal history such as Villa Cameline with an “Intimate Geography” by Christophe Everart or Villa Les Cygnes for a photographic exhibition by Olivier Calvel. Liselott Johnsson‘s magnificent work will be presented by Moving Art at Véronique de Lavenne (soon in smArty magazine) while Julien Griffaud’s works, for a completely different universe with videos in particular, will diffuse a particular poetry at the Hôtel Windsor. To the east of the city, at 109, La Station will host a proposal from the contemporary art centre Les Capucins while the Forum d’ Urbanisme et d’ Architecture with “New Beauties” will focus on the very sensitive notion of beauty in architecture. Also at 109, you can also visit the studios of artists Caroline Rivaland, Quentin Spohn and Mouna Bakouli. On Sunday 26 May the “evening visitors” will migrate – but for the day! – towards other artistic heavens with the Espace de l’Art Concret in Mouans-Sartoux, including the superb paintings by Gérard Traquandi, the Sintitulo Gallery in Mougins for works by Sébastien Arrighi and, in Cannes, a proposal for “We want art everywhere” at the Palais Belle Vue. A beautiful trip in perspective with all the surprises in store for us in contemporary art!
