#TOULON To celebrate their second candle, theCanon Gallery offers us a masterful exhibition of three artists with singular creative expressions. The works of Corinne Mercadier, Paz Corona and Caroline Vicquenault enter into“Resonances”by their touches, their sensitivities, by the intrinsic links that are formed between the media used. Painting, drawing, photography, so many techniques to appreciate their compositions, sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract, and their sensitive experimental research.

Corinne Mercadier‘s photographic work is very sensory. From known places, she creates universes on matte paper with objects in weightlessness, between reality and illusion. His characters seen from behind have a hidden face. His technique is negative, which allows him to develop an idea resulting from a reflection during which his imagination gives free rein. At the end of this gestation work, the photograph will reveal an imagined scene, composed of real, figurative elements, characters who throw objects into the air. During the shooting, anything can happen: the hazard interferes in these photographic settings for a poetic result questioning the place of the human being in this infinite space.

Unveil, unveil, show a natural face, without artifice, exposed. She or the others because the large faces painted by Paz Corona have disturbing similarities with the Chilean artist. At a time when figuration is making a comeback in contemporary art fairs, Paz Corona brings a great modernity to this secular theme. Her portraiture seeks to find the inner, unique look of the characters she shows. Self-taught, its vibrant touch gives vitality to these powerful faces and imposed charisms.
We had left Caroline Vicquenault just graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design and already, her style between abstraction and figuration had not left visitors of the exhibition indifferent “Random variables”(Graduates’ exhibition presented in 2016 at the Hôtel Départemental des Arts) Photographs are the basis of his artistic research. Family, friends… Pictures of everyday life, personal and intimate that are transposed on the web. The pictorial technique provokes a play of palpable tensions that put the initial subject at risk. The flat areas and drips free the image but through the layers, light emerges to create sharp shapes and reveal the painting.
