MAMO’s 5th anniversary: interview with Ora Ito
Marie-Elisabeth de La Fresnaye

Following in the footsteps of Xavier Veilhan, Daniel Buren, Dan Graham, Felice Varini and Jean-Pierre Raynaud, the designer Ora Ito continues his cycle of invitations to artists he considers capable of confronting himself with the gesture of Le Corbusier, with the Swiss Olivier Mosset who in turn takes possession of the terrace roof of the Cité Radieuse. His response to the monochrome that goes beyond the precepts of B. M.T.P. is inscribed here in this chameleon painting that reacts to light on large vertical and horizontal panels and the iridescent sheet metal of a 1957 Harley Davidson 74 Panhead (Easy Reader model) of which he was the proud owner;
Ora Ito at the origin of this vast and ambitious project of Art Center, the MaMo, registered with the World Heritage of UNESCO, returned on the vocation of such a place, the genesis of this 6th invitation and its numerous projects in the region, Arles in particular and everywhere else.
